The Holiday-Healthy YOU!
Happy Friday from Corporate Wellness by Gold's Gym! Here is your Friday health tip!
Yes, it is the Holiday Season! Here come the parties, the snacking, smacking, and everything in between. Here come more cookies and fudge from the neighbor! More candy. More pie. More calories.
But don't be afraid. If you follow some of these tips you won't have to worry about adding the extra pounds---and you will be on your way to being the holiday-healthy YOU.
- Fill up on the good stuff---make half of your plate healthy choices, such as chicken, fish, shrimp, salsa, and veggies
- Eat a healthy appetizer---go for the veggie tray, shrimp, or salsa rather than the deep fried wings
- Have a snack---eat a snack before your attend a party, and take a snack with you while you are out shopping
- Watch your beverages---eating your calories will provide longer satiety. Beverages are packed with unnecessary sugar, calories, and fat. Try to stick with water only.
- Have a plan---plan out if you will be eating out and adjust the rest of your meals throughout the day as well as how much physical activity you will be doing
- Avoid mindless eating---really savor each bite and enjoy the taste, rather than putting food in your mouth just because it's there
- Bring your own dish---if you prepare a healthy dish, you at least know there is one thing that will be healthy at the party
- Move your body---be as physically active as possible to compensate for any extra calories
ENJOY this Holiday Season and ENJOY the new you!
